Exactly a week ago today I finally got to see Liverpool’s game live in person. I was so excited I couldn’t even comprehend. I don’t know how long I’ve been supporting them. 18, 19, 20 years may be? The moment my company decided to send me to Poland, there was only one thing on my mind. Find a game at Anfield I could go to. So the date was set. May 15 against Aston Villa. I got the ticket to the game 2 weeks before the game through e-season ticket. It was hard. The website was hit hard, most likely by fans like myself hoping for a ticket.
Anyway, there I was at Anfield section 127 Anfield Road. The game wasn’t until 3 o’clock in the afternoon. I was so excited about the whole experience, I showed up at noon. The place was already packed with fans. I saw Alan Kennedy signing autograph. What a Kop hero? I arrived at my seat a little over an hour before kickoff. I saw Stevie walked by, followed later by Smicer. Good luck Vladi. Thanks for your service. A few minutes later Luis and Mori walked by too. What a sight? This is why I was here today. To watch my hero up close and personal.
The atmosphere was amazing. The singing, the chanting, the screaming. I lost count how many songs we have. It felt surreal. I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing. These fans are passionate. And I have to agree with most pundits, Liverpool fans are the best fans in the whole world. The game was exciting. Cisse brace won the game for Liverpool although the 2nd half was a nerve wreck for any fans in the stadium. I left 1 minute before the end of the game, a decision I came to regret later. My flight was delayed and I missed the fans send-off of the team to compete in the Champions League Final.
And talking about final, it is 3 days away. Go get ‘em Reds! Make us proud. Make us believe. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
