With gas over $4.00 a gallon, it has never been a better time for people to consider walking more and living a healthier life. While it’s nice to live in a city or a neighborhood with a lot of parks where you can take a morning or an afternoon walk; what if you live in a neighborhood that is not walker-friendly? If that’s the case, check out Walk Score and find which neighborhood in your city that is walker-friendly.

Walk Score ranks city across the nation to find which city is the most “walkable”. And as a San Franciscan, I am proud that my city is ranked number 1; followed by New York, Boston, and Chicago. Walk Score ranked almost 2,508 neighborhoods and it gives a score of 0 – 100 depending on its “Walkability” index. It takes into account shopping district (known as center), the density, housing demographic, parks and public space, pedestrian-centric design, school system, and the streets.

San Francisco’s Walk Score is 86. I am curious what my neighborhood Walk Score is. I entered my address and it is 100 out of 100 aka Walker’s Paradise. That’s a 14 points differential. In a political race, that would have been considered a land-slide victory.

Just look at the map below. Presidio is a few blocks north and Golden Gate Park is a few blocks south. And within half a mile radius, you will find endless number of restaurants, cafes, bars, groceries stores, shops, parks, movie theaters, yoga centers, libraries, book stores, schools, etc.

The Song Almost Paradise is ringing in my head.

Almost Paradise, we’re knocking on heaven’s door. Almost Paradise, how could we ask for more?

I wrote an article Start Eating Healthy or Else and published it with an embedded video which has very powerful messages. Unfortunately, some of my friends, who live in part of the world where high speed internet access is a luxury, do not have the ability to view the video; hence missing out on the important messages the video is trying to communicate.

The video shows a series of messages along with pictures that are relevant to that particular message. The song Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole’s plays in the background.

Here are the messages from the video …

Most Astonishing Health Disaster of the 20th Century

The Death of Blind Faith

Do you have faith in conventional medicine?

How long can you turn a blind eye to the Truth?

Sloppy handwriting is the cause of 7,000 patient deaths each year, while preventable medication mistakes hurt 1.5 million patients.

Every year, 7.5 million unnecessary medical and surgical procedures are performed.

At least 106,000 people die every year from adverse drug reactions.

A mere 6% of all adverse drug reactions are properly identified.

Most side effects are instead mistaken for new disease symptoms, leading to further drugging and unnecessary medical procedures, increasing the risk of death even further.

Most of these deaths are from expected adverse reactions, because they are an extension of the drugs’ action.

The mortality rate for people between the ages of 45-64, who took their prescription drugs correctly, rose 90% in just five years.

As of 2001, Pfizer was the number one most profitable company of all the Fortune 500 companies.

Their profit that year was 7.8 billion dollars, which is more than the profits from all Fortune 500 companies in the homebuilding, apparel, railroad and publishing industries combined.

Modern medicine is no longer about health.

It is a for-profit disease industry that can only survive if millions of people get sick, and stay that way…

…It’s an industry that refuses to consider vitally important aspects of health, like how stress lowers the immune system…

…how processed foods, alcohol, excessive calories and insufficient exercise are recipes for disease…

…how exposure to the tens of thousands of toxins in our environment, and in our food supply, have direct links to the illnesses you suffer.

You’re told to stay out of the sun…

yet more than 50,000 people die from cancer each year, because they don’t get enough sun exposure.

Why are we kept in the dark?

Why is the truth not being sought?

Follow the money!

More than half of the United States population have received unnecessary medical treatment.

That’s about 50,000 people per day…

…42% have been directly affected by a medical mistake, from a procedure or drug, and 84% of our population personally know someone who’s been a victim of a medical error.

These medical errors and death equates to six jumbo jets falling out of the sky each and every day.

The only difference is the media coverage- there’s no public displays of grief for those who die of faulty medicine.

The error rate of Intensive Care Units is like the post office losing more than 16,000 pieces of mail every hour every day…

…or banks deducting 32,000 checks from the wrong account each and every hour- every day- year in year out.

The American medical system is the number one killer in the United States.

The deaths caused by conventional medicine, in just one decade, equate to approximately 8 million.

That’s more than all casualties from all the wars America has fought in its entire history.

In 2006, health care spending reached two trillion dollars.

We should have the best medicine in the world- preventing and reversing disease, and knowing how to do minimal harm.

Instead, we are being buried prematurely.

Adding to the problems created by this flawed system?

Deceptive marketing that has changed our eating patterns, so now, more than 90% of the money people spend on the food is for highly processed, unhealthy foods.

Sugar in soft drinks is the number one source of calories in the U.S., which now causes one in three Americans to have diabetes or pre-diabetes, and two in three Americans to be overweight.

Half of them are obese.

How many must jump of the cliff ahead of you before you will step out of line?

Toxic medications will never reverse poor health that is due to poor food choices.

Think about it…

What benefit can outweigh a statistically proven risk of “unintentional death” as the side-effect of most drugs?

Are you ready to stand up and take charge of your health?

Or will you let Big Pharma take you down and cover it up?

In memory of:

The millions of people who placed their faith and trust in a corrupted medical system that took their lives for profit.

Are you ready?

Subscribe to Mercola.com

You don’t have to become statistic.

I wrote an article about How Healthy Are You? 2 weeks ago; talking about the importance of eating healthy. I know that article doesn’t go into details on why you should be eating healthy. With the cost of health care goes up each and every year, can you really afford to be “not healthy”?

I am not going to talk about “Sicko”, a documentary on the US health care directed by Michael Moore. I have not personally seen it so I can’t really comment on that. I have heard and read both side of the arguments. Some people applauded him for taking a stand, some despised him for being bias. But I am sure the reactions are more political than they are objective.

Anyway, before we even get to the health care issue, I think you could have saved yourself a great deal if you just take care of your body from the very beginning.

I hope the following video will explain it better in detail.
