Flight Attendants Strip to Protest Unpaid Salaries

I came across this article and was wondering why I never got flight attendants like them on my flight ever. Apparently the flight attendants decided to strip for calendar to make up for their unpaid salaries; which were owed to them by their employer. Their employer, Air Comet, was grounded last year over unpaid bills.

The poses were tastefully done. One pose shows a flight attendant stowed in an overhead compartment. Now, where can I find this calendar?

Windows 7 Was My Idea

Today marks the first day Windows 7 goes on sale. After 2 years of my love hate relationship with Windows Vista; a product I consider terrible, this is indeed a welcoming news. Just to show how bad Windows Vista is, Apple Macintosh market share nearly doubled after the Windows Vista release. And no, I am not switching to Apple.

I hope Windows will gain back its market share with the new Windows 7; which received glowing report from analysts and users alike. My brother tried the Release Candidate version for a few months and was extremely pleased with the performance and the overall improvement over the Windows Vista and XP.

At this point, I am still contemplating on whether to upgrade or to just buy a new notebook. I am hoping for the latter but it will happen one way or another.

In the mean time, Microsoft has released a few videos promoting Windows 7 and touted the product as users’ ideas; pretty clever commercial if they want to connect with average Joe computer user. I like Steven’s HomeGroup ad the best.

This is Your Baby! Or May be Not! Just Come to Denmark …

This is probably one of the best viral video I’ve seen in a long time. There is a twist in this story however. Just a little background on the video. This Danish woman named Karen posted a video of herself and her baby August on youtube. She made a plea to her supposedly one-night-stand whom she met last year and apparently had sex with, to come forward because she has his baby and didn’t know anything about him (where he is from or even his name.) She even posted her email and her web address. The video was posted 4 days ago and has received over 1 million views. (Note: The original video has been removed by the user.)

Now the twist, as reported by NineMsn, is this … Karen is not even her real name. And the baby on the video is also NOT her baby. Karen’s real name is Ditte Arnth Jorgensen, as reported by Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.

So what is really going on? Apparently, this video is created by Denmark Tourism Authority. I am not sure what “Visit Denmark” message they are trying to send to prospective tourists. “Come visit Denmark. Our women will sleep with you”? or “Come to Denmark. Don’t forget to bring condom.”? I don’t know. I am sure there are Pigs (read: Alpha Male) already making reservation to visit Denmark this year.

As messed up as it is, I really think it’s a brilliant viral video. 1 million hit in 4 days. Amazing.

Craig David vs Wheesung

I caught the song Insomnia on the radio a month or two ago. At the time, I thought it was Usher. Yesterday a friend showed me a Youtube clip of the song … in Korean by an artist called Wheesung. And that led me to investigate a bit for this story.

It turned out the original Insomnia was sang by Craig David. On Wheesung Wikipedia entry, it said in late 2008, Craig David asked Wheesung to do a cover version of the song Insomnia in Korean. The music video was released on February 17, 2009.

I love Craig David’s version the moment I heard it on the radio. But when I saw Wheesung’s music video, I am hooked. The beat is faster and the music video is amazing. Well, I love hip-hop dance so I am bias.

Banned Superbowl 2009 Ad

NBC has yanked the PETA.Org “Veggie Love” ad from its Superbowl 2009 ads lineup. I think the sexual-nature of the ad that prompted the NBC to made that decision. At one point during the commercial, it shows a tagline that says “Studies Show Vegetarians Have Better Sex”. Kinda make me wonder whether I should be a vegetarian. I am pretty sure some guys will use it as a pickup line.

Lin Hao, 9-Year-Old Earthquake Survivor Led the Chinese Olympic Team In the Opening Ceremony

If you managed to catch the 2008 Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony today, you would probably agree that it was probably one of the best, if not the best, opening ceremony of an Olympic the world has ever witnessed. The 4 hours festivity featured jam-packed entertainment, classic performance of opera and musical instruments, fireworks display like none others, and the lit-up of the Olympic cauldron.

If you saw the Chinese team led out by Yao Ming walking through the stadium, you would notice a small little boy walking next to him. Now with all the spectacular display, the story about that young boy is the one that touched me the most. The boy, Lin Hao, is a 9-year-old survivor of the earthquake devastated the Sichuan province back in May 2008 that killed more than 60,000 people.

What you probably don’t read about him was during the earthquake, he was in a school with 30 other students in his class. When the earthquake struck, he didn’t just run to safety. He ran back to the school and saved two of his fellow students by carrying them out of the rubbles when the school collapsed. Only 10 students in his class survived and two of them were saved by him. His act of heroism made him a national hero. He has earned the right to stand alongside his country’s best in this year Olympic. An amazing young boy.

Last week I caught a glimpse of America’s Got Talent preview for this week show. I didn’t know who the performer was. The preview showed a black male sobbing on stage. Piers Morgan, one of the judge, called him the Heart of America; even Jerry Springer shed a tear.

I don’t normally watch tv so I missed his performance on tv. I am going to rely on my internet search skill to find out who he is and watch his audition video on youtube.

After a bit of search I found out his name is Kyle Rifkin from Harlem. He is 36 years old and he is an R&B singer. He performed The Tempations’ Ain’t To Proud To Beg. He was incredible and Piers Morgan is right. He is the Heart of America.

Tax vs Lives – Should You Vote Your Pocketbook?

I had a talk with a friend of mine yesterday about this year presidential election. I found out from another friend of mine that her husband is going to vote for John McCain in November although the reason was never disclosed. She was impartial as to who to vote for but during one of the discussion, the talk of higher tax under Barack Obama surfaced and might have played a part in her husband decision to vote for McCain in November.

There is no denying the fact that John McCain wants to extend the tax-cut under Bush Administration for the wealthy rich, and Barack Obama wants to let the Bush tax cut expires (affects mostly people with more than $250,000.) John McCain wants to keep the tax-cut and prolonged the Iraq war. Barack Obama on the other hand, wants to stop the war and repel the tax-cut for the wealthy rich.

People have the right to vote for whichever candidate they so wish; including the candidate who would keep more money in the taxpayer pocket.

Here is the fact figure, according to the IRS the top 10% of individual taxpayers break at Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $103,912 (for 2005, the latest stats available). The top 1% had an AGI above $364,657. A single taxpayer with $100k in AGI will pay $4,328 more in tax. A single taxpayer in the top 1% (AGI of $364,657) will pay $13,806 more in tax. For a $100k earner, it’s a saving of $11.85 a day. For the top 1%, that means a saving of $37.82 a day.

If you are making $250,000 a year, $30 a day (estimate based on the 2 figures above) should hardly be a problem. In fact, if you are making $250,00 a year and $30 a day is a stretch for your budget, I think you have a bigger problem than just money.

Before you go to the voting booth, please consider this fact …

It’s been 1,904 days (03/20/2003) since the start of the war. And US military casualties since the war began is a staggering 4,090 people. That means more than 2 soldiers died a day as a DIRECT result of the war.

John McCain will let you (the WEALTHY rich) keep $30 a day in your pocket but will also deliver 2 dead bodies daily along with it. Barack Obama will make you pay $30 a day more, but he will bring the troops home from the harm way.

Ask yourself this question, if you can pay $30 a day to save the lives of 2 men and women in uniform, would you do it? Vote your conscience and your priority … whatever it is.

Obama In 30 Seconds

MoveOn.org, a liberal web-based advocacy organization, ran a contest to create a 30-seconds video ad about Barack Obama, the candidate it endorses for presidency. I rated some of the videos last week, until it got a little too overwhelming with thousands of entries.

Today, it selected the 15 finalists. You can vote on the video that you like most. Over 5 million votes and counting.

There is a panel of 24 judges that include Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jesse Jackson, and some others. No date has been set yet as to when the winner will be announced. The winning ad will be broadcast on national television.
