Today, on March 29, 2008 at 8 pm for an hour, let’s join million others around the world to combat the climate change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the World Wildlife Fund. The event was created in Sydney in 2007 and has since grown into a world wide event. Way to go Sydney. Having considered Sydney as my second home, I am proud to be part of this movement.
Earth Hour will be observed throughout the world, including more than 100 cities across North America. For San Franciscans, here are a few ideas what you can do to celebrate Earth Hour. Gavin Newsome, mayor of San Francisco, has urged business across the city to participate in the event. One Hour San Francisco. One person CAN make a difference.
Sydney was the first major city to go dark today.
