I was a big fan of a certain juice franchise in town. For fear of slender, I would just leave out the name. Anyway, I would normally drink the juice at least 2-3 times a week.

Do you know that FDA recommends 5 serving of fruits and vegetables a day? A day. Imagine that. How many people do you know take the recommended serving?

Anyway, back to the juice story. I figure since I don’t eat fruits on a regular basis, the juice will be just as good right? Wrong …. My friends told me the juice has tons of sugars added to it. I guess I was naive thinking all juice are created equal. I haven’t drink as much since and now I have completely stopped drinking that juice.

Take a guess how many peaches you have to eat today to get the same vitamins in 2 peaches back in the 1950’s. 53 peaches. That’s right. With all the pesticides in today’s agriculture, the nutrition in the food we consume today is not the same as it once was. That’s why you see tons of organic foods in the groceries store nowadays. It costs a little more but it’s healthier.

If you are in your teens or even in your 20s, you probably don’t care about all this nutrition now. But with the rampant obesity around the country, can you afford not to? I am in my early 30s and I can tell you my body doesn’t recover as fast as it once was so proper nutrition is really important to me. I didn’t start eating vegetables until about 3 years ago. What was I thinking all those years?

What about you? Have you looked into your diet lately? What have you been putting into your body? 😉
