I am officially a co-owner of yet-to-be-determined football team in England. I talked about being part of 50,000 people to acquire a football team in my previous article. I predicted it would take 2 weeks before we received our 50,000th applications. What do I know? 2 days later, we received our 50,000th application.

This morning I received an email from MyFootballClub to send in the annual payment of £35. Once the money is collected from all 50,000 co-owners, we will then pursue a team to buy. This is so exciting. Realistically we will probably buy a team in the 3rd or the 4th division, with little to no debt, good stadium, and have a potential to challenge for promotion.

I sent in my payment immediately and was given access to the members-only area. I think only paid co-owners are given the access to the member’s area. The demographic of the co-owners are pretty diverse. We have students, lawyers, engineers, managers, teachers, etc from all over the world including England, Europe, Asia, and even the US. I only saw another guy from San Francisco.

The payment collection is still in the early stage. It took us 3 months to finally get our 50,000th registration. I am sure it’ll take a little longer to get 50,000 people to pay £35 to join the ownership.

We are in talks with 4 different football teams. We don’t know what team they are yet. At this point, they want to remain anonymous. We also do not know how many people have made the payment. This will prevent the other party from knowing our financial information during the negotiation process.

I know most of you have no interest in this but if you are a football (or soccer) fan, you definitely do not want to miss the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be an owner of a professional sport team.

From now on, when people ask me what I do, I can say without hesitation ‘I co-own a professional football team in England.’ Not a catchy pick-up line but I bet you’ve never heard one like that before. ;-)
