My site recently got upgraded to Google PageRank 3. I got a PR 2 a few months after I started blogging. It took about 9 months to get to PR 3. I think the largest inbound links have come from Social Bookmarking site such Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us, Mixx, Technorati, and Propeller.
